WINONA E. 'BETTY' McCOMB Born: May 26, 1916; in Winnipeg, Canada Died: Nov. 23, 2006; in Woodstock She owned and operated a beauty shop in Wonder Lake WOODSTOCK -Winona E. "Betty" McComb, 90, of Hebron, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock. She was born May 26, 1916, in Winnipeg, Canada to Cecil and Adelia (Bowie) Hicks. She owned and operated the Gayle -Wend Beauty Shop in Wonder Lake for 35 years. She was a member of the St. John's Church in Hebron. Survivors' include two daughters, Gayle Mansfield of Hebron and Wendy (Kenneth Schlobohm) McComb of Bartlett; a half brother, Jack (Martha) Hicks of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a sister, Patricia Hazelton of Ottawa, Canada; two grandchildren, Kim (Skip) Garlic and Shawn (Anne) Mansfield; two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Kattie Garlic; a friend, Kirk McComb of Carpentersville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and five sisters, Nelda, Ween, Ivy, Wilma and Fern. A memorial service is being planned at a later date. Her cremains will be buried in Canada. Memorials may be made in her name to St. John's Lutheran Church, 9812 St. Alban, Hebron, IL 60034; or to the Hebron Rescue Squad.
